Gary Markle is an associate professor of fashion at NSCAD University. He holds an MFA from NSCAD University, Halifax, NS, Canada (1995) and a BFA from Parsons School of Design, New York, NY, USA (1988).

Markle has received many grants, including the Nova Scotia COVID-19 Health Research Coalition (2020), the Canada Council, Research and Creation Grant鈥� (2018), the SSHRC Partnership Engage Grant鈥� (2018), the Canada Council, Arts Abroad Grant (2018), the Arts Nova Scotia, Grants to Individuals (2017) and theSkin Deep, collaborative NSCAD University Research Development Fund Grant鈥� (2016).

Markle has exhibited in local, national and international galleries, including Kinetic Studio, Halifax, NS, HISK Higher Education Institute, Ghent, Belgium, MSVU Art Gallery, Halifax, NS, Phase One, Narva Art Residency, Narva, Estonia, Floating Warren Pavilion, Charlottetown, PEI, Anna Leonowens Gallery, Halifax, NS, Pavia Gallery and Caf茅, Halifax, NS and White Rabbit Residency, Upper Economy, NS.
